Dr. Surajit Bhattacharya is a qualified Plastic surgeon from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow, India. He has pursued superior training in his field for over fifteen years. His interest in Plastic Surgery developed early in his training career while conducting research on the burn and post traumatic deformities of the hand.

After receiving a M.B.B.S. Degree at the University of Lucknow, Dr. Bhattacharya went on to General Surgery Residency at the Department of Surgery in King George’s Medical College under the able guidance of Prof. P.C.Dubey and Prof. R.P.Sahi. Here he received rigorous training in all aspects of surgical theory and practice. His training at K.G.M.C. included trauma rotations at surgical emergency services and super-speciality rotations in Chest Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Paediatric Surgery. In 1984 he was awarded MS in General Surgery. 

His Plastic Surgery Residency was completed in the Post Graduate Department of Plastic Surgery again in King George’s Medical College and he was awarded his M.Ch. in Plastic Surgery in 1988. He worked as a teacher in the Division of Surgical Oncology in his alma-mater, and was responsible for all reconstructive works after ablative cancer Surgery performed in the Unit. 

Dr. Bhattacharya chose additional training at the prestigious Microsurgery Research Centre in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia under the guidance of the world famous Microsurgeons Mr. Bernard Mc O’Brien and Prof. Wayne Morrison. This is undoubtedly the Mecca for Microsurgeons and Hand Surgeons and rightfully boasts of the best training facilities in the world. The most vivid textbook on Microsurgery is published from this Unit and it has aluminizes all over the world. Dr. Bhattacharya’s pursuit of excellence then took him to the Australian Cranio-Facial Unit in Adelaide, Australia where he had the opportunity to undergo the most extensive hands on training in Cranio-Facial Surgery and Aesthetic Facial Surgery under the most illustrious Cranio-Facial Surgeon of our time Mr. David. J. David. After a brief training in Providence Hospital, Southfield, Michigan, U.S.A. with the illustrious Plastic and Cranio-Facial Surgeon Mr. Ian T. Jackson the sheer love of working in his home turf ultimately brought him back to his native Lucknow.

Currently, Dr. Bhattacharya is the Editor of the most popular E-Newsletter of Plastic Surgery coming out of India. He has established a practice of Plastic Surgery in Lucknow. He is consultant to the biggest private hospital in Lucknow, Neera Hospital and is also available in Ajanta Hospital and Awadh Hospital. He also has two out-station clinics in Gorakhpur and Moradabad, which are approximately 300 Km. from Lucknow. Capital Diagnostics, his clinical rooms, was co-founded with his wife, Neeta, who is a radiologist and who shares them. He and Neeta have two children.
